Development study of the Pointe d'Estimauville

Pointe d’Estimauville is a large abandoned commercial site in the city’s urban landscape. The site is enclosed by a highway that completely cuts it off from the St. Lawrence River. Although the site once harbored a huge shopping center, it was subsequently completely abandoned and in need of development. In 2010, the City decided to convert the site to a high density residential development and reconnect the city with the river using a new approach that would incorporate integrated, adaptive planning; sustainable development criteria; mixed use development; and distinctive architecture.

In collaboration with Projet Paysage, ABCP drew up a site plan in keeping with previous urban studies and proposing modern and innovative residential typologies. In addition to presenting a strong urban planning solution, the objective was to provide quality, double-oriented or partially double-oriented apartments of various shapes and colors, connected to private or public green spaces. Based on this study, the city issued a call for proposals for the development of the Estimauville Green Neighborhood.
