Rouyn-Noranda aquatic Complex

The Rouyn-Noranda aquatic complex will be built in the heart of the city's educational sector, on the site of the Cégep de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue and adjacent to the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT). The project is in line with the ZIM (Zone d'innovation minière) development plan.

The building features a sports pool with 6 x 25m lanes, a recreational pool of almost 150 square metres, a universal changing room, a multi-purpose hall, as well as all the administrative and technical premises required for the complex's operation. The solid wood roof structure is an innovative and striking feature of the project, particularly in the pool area, which features impressive 25-meter-span beams topped with CLT panels. The single-storey building has two public viewing areas, with a tiered floor accessible directly from the hall. The building surpasses universal accessibility standards, allowing everyone to enjoy and be comfortable in it.

Natural light and views to the outside enliven the spaces and provide a stimulating and inspiring living environment, while avoiding direct light in the basins.
