Description

The aim of Société du centre des congrès de Quebec (SCCQ) is to have the Quebec City Convention Centre (QCCC) recognized as a key venue in Canada for international events. To fulfill this vision, it continues to enhance and upgrade its facilities and services. The QCCC has seen its visitor capacity boosted a number of times through various projects, including the addition of the 2000 sector in 2005, which we carried out in conjunction with LemayMichaud.

In 2011, SCCQ came up with a project to purchase space from the Place-Québec shopping center and transform it into additional meeting and conference space. The ABCP + LemayMichaud consortium was selected to carry out the project on the 3000 sector.

The project was spread over three levels. The main transformation, on Level 3, involved a number of rooms, halls, and other special services. The total gross area of this expansion and renovation was approximately 8,200 m2, with an overall budget of $25 million. SCCQ is keenly aware of the impact of its operations on the environment and has been committed to sustainable development from its inception, adopting an eco-responsible approach through a variety of measures. SCCQ obtained LEED-CI certification for this development project.

The construction work, divided into thirty-three bid packages, was completed in March 2014.
