Passerelle de la Tortue

Continuing on from the Trois-Soeurs footbridge, the architectural concept of the Tortue footbridge stands out for its lightness, delicacy and the symbolic, signalling character of its masts. The asymmetrical, fully suspended structure is composed of steel cables and circular stringers supporting a glulam deck. The underside of the deck and the steel structure are fully exposed.

This type of structure enables the bridge to be crossed while reducing the size of the framework. The V-shaped masts are located at the limit of the high-water line, around a third of the way up the span, and rise more than 20m above the river. They are made up of digitally-cut, variable-inertia glulam posts, connected by a cable at the top.
