Description
The remodeling and renovation of Cégep Garneau's Dental Hygiene Techniques sector has created a work and teaching environment in line with the latest advances in dental care. Taking place in an area of the pavilion built in 1938, the project involved a complete overhaul of the clinical and training areas, and bringing the equipment up to standard.
Two clinics were set up: a main clinic, designed to receive genuine outpatients, with 14 treatment rooms, and a second, called a mini-clinic, equipped with 12 chairs and enabling students to practice treatments among themselves under the direct supervision of their teacher. The latter is equipped with multimedia systems so that each student can follow the teacher's instructions and demonstrations.
In addition to the radiology facilities in the main clinic, a radiology teaching area has been created. It comprises seven rooms, including one dedicated to 3D panoramic radiography. Two sterilization centers have been designed to enable both production and teaching of best sterilization and asepsis practices. Three classrooms, a library, a nutrition room, a plaster room and a laboratory complete the sector's teaching facilities.
