Description

The future Complexe Santé Montréal-Nord will be built in a dense urban environment undergoing major transformation. It will include both a 6-storey medical complex and a 7-storey, 195-place intermediate resource. Directly linked to the surrounding public space, health-related shops and services will enliven the building's first floor.

The base of the building is set back, creating a semi-covered space overlooking the street and the driveway leading to the main entrance. It is generously fenestrated and partially clad with reconstituted stone panels to accommodate minimal signage. The main body of the building is composed of a thin skin of brick and glass interspersed in an organized pattern. Red clay brick dominates the materiality of the health complex, echoing its strong presence in the area, enlivening the facades of the smaller-scale buildings.

Its layout minimizes shading of neighbouring lots, which are predominantly commercial and light industrial, and features a number of planted amenity areas for residents, customers and employees, as well as curtain walls to encourage natural light.
