Description
The new pavilion will house the École supérieure d'études internationales and organizations such as the Bureau International, the École des langues, the Bureau de vie étudiante and international studies student groups. It will honor Brian Mulroney, a Université Laval law alumnus who was Prime Minister of Canada from 1984 to 1993, and his contribution to Quebec's development and international politics. The future pavilion will train the next generation of diplomats and foreign service officers, helping to enhance the place of Quebec and the Canadian Francophonie on the international stage.
The project's main vocation is teaching and research, but it will host major international events in its meeting spaces. The various functions are articulated along a linear atrium opening onto the future park, to foster the link between internal functions and the environment. The heart of the building is a large, round meeting room that recreates the physical context of international meetings.
This future building will be innovative from a sustainable development point of view, notably through the integration of a solid wood structure and exemplary energy performance. It is also aiming for LEED and BCZ Design certification.
