Description
The contract calls for the construction of a new plant for the company's Styro Plyo division, which produces folded materials (metal flashings and cladding, folded sheet metal). Covering some 10,000 square feet, the new facility will include common areas, enclosed and open-plan offices, indoor and outdoor warehousing, production and packaging.
The building is laid out on the site in two simple, distinct volumes that break down the functions. The plant is located in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, a suburb of Quebec City.
The first volume, lower down, houses all administrative functions. This volume is marked by a dark gray cladding that develops in the form of multiple, random folds. The folds are a direct reference to folded sheet metal, the company's business. The entrance and glazed areas are protected by a red awning that recalls the company's trademark color. The second, simpler and more imposing volume, immaculately white, houses the industrial activities.
