Description
Construction of the RNovo project is taking place in Sainte-Foy's Champigny district. It consists of 59 housing units in three buildings. These will include subsidized units under the AccèsLogis program and affordable housing. Units will range from one to five bedrooms. Designed in a cooperative spirit, RNovo is intended to be a stimulating living environment, encouraging the integration of each family or single person who lives there.
The three buildings form an inner courtyard with an underground parking lot. A place for residents to socialize and enjoy themselves, this landscaped courtyard features play areas and community gardens.
The dimensions of each building are based on volumetric, urban and solar analyses. A six-storey building is located to the north of the site, close to a boulevard lined with large-scale commercial buildings. The apartments in this building have been designed to be accessible to people with disabilities. The other two buildings are three storeys high and front onto residential streets, creating a gentle transition to lower density. The units in both buildings have private entrances, similar to those of individual properties. All also have a balcony or private yard connected to the inner courtyard.
The materiality of the facades is inspired by the neighboring buildings, for the sake of integration with the environment. Forming a coherent whole, each building nevertheless has its own identity, asserted by slight variations in shape and details.
