Fasken Bulding

A new wing on Abraham-Martin Street has been added to the Telus building at 300 rue Saint-Paul. Now known as the Fasken Building, this new volume with its modern lines has emerged from the triangular-shaped rear lot, where the landing stage and loading docks of the former postal sorting center once occupied the site.

The new volume consists of a massive mineral base, pierced by openings in continuity with the existing building's basilaire, onto which a light, entirely transparent volume is delicately placed. Framing the neighboring park, it features an imposing overhang and a lively, open facade. The triangular shape of the extension, mainly caused by the atypical shape of the lot, amplifies the views of the Gare du Palais and the Bassin Louise quays.

The nobility of the materials used, including limestone salvaged during demolition, pays homage to the quality of the neighboring buildings. The fenestration in vertical bands is inspired by the very regular composition of the facades of the original building. A crystalline glass envelope adds a sleek, contemporary touch. The various volumes are treated with sobriety to create a timeless appearance. In terms of scale, composition and materials, the Fasken building blends harmoniously into the existing heritage.
