Description
After years of searching for the perfect spot, the elementary school is built on the former site of the Saint-Romuald community centre in Lévis.
The new school breathes new life into the existing building that was built in 1969 in keeping with the Modern movement. The school gymnasium is be located in this magnificent pyramidal structure, which has been fully renovated and made entirely of glulam. The school is built up around it to showcase this one-of-a-kind architectural gem and create an inner courtyard for all to enjoy in the heart of the new complex. The new addition is a nod to the pyramid shape with its measured use of oblique lines to accentuate the inner and outer architecture. The design, which is both dynamic and respectful of the Modernist heritage, gives a second life to this iconic neighbourhood building so rooted in the collective memory.
