Description

The Les Arcs winter sports center, with more than 425 km of ski runs, is part of the Paradiski resort. Les Arcs is made up of four sites, each named after their approximate altitude. The 1800 meter site consists of a tourist village on the Chantel Ridge. Three buildings surround a courtyard that offers visitors a multitude of activities and services, including a large spa and gardens. The challenge posed by this recreation/tourism project consisted of integrating the new buildings into the steep mountain slope while preserving the sweeping vistas of the surrounding peaks. It was also essential to blend the complex into the landscape and optimize views of the new development to avoid impeding the view and landscape corridors in this mountainous area. Construction started in 2010 and was completed in 2012.
