Des Grands-Bâtisseurs elementary school

This new Beauport school has 17 classrooms, a double gymnasium, art and music rooms, plenty of space for daycare as well as a learning centre and common areas for socializing.

Des Grands-Bâtisseurs  school is located at the high point of the borough of Beauport between the hills and the river, with breathtaking views of Quebec City. Classrooms are spread out around the schoolyard to offer it protection from the prevailing winds and let in ample natural sunlight. The classrooms are all lined up along one side of a learning street–style corridor with ample glazing to create a strong relationship between interior and exterior. There is also an outdoor classroom in the nearby woodlot.

Designed as a continuous landscape, the free-flowing interior works with the outer landscape to create the illusion of an endless space with breathtaking views of Île d’Orléans and Cap Diamant. It is a true neighbourhood school that is rooted in its community and surroundings.
