Description
Following the two-phase re-fit of Centre d’expertise en analyse environnemental du Québec (CEAEQ), Immeubles Simard tasked ABCP architecture with building Quebec City’s environmental analysis center. The aim of the project was to bring together the Quebec City and Beauport environmental analysis teams under one roof on Rue Saint-Sacrement. The new facilities house microbiology and organic and inorganic chemistry labs as well as office space and lounge areas.
The first part of the project consisted of defining the lab teams’ needs in cooperation with the engineers and scientific instrumentation firm Phytronix. The facilities were designed to maximize natural light and user comfort. Detailed planning of the laboratory furnishings was also an important part of the assignment. A thorough monitoring of user needs also ensured that all the furnishings were up to the lab teams’ expectations. The project design was completed within a very tight timeframe.
